According to the rules of the scriptures, Holika Dahan should be done on the full moon date of the month of Phalgun or Febraury. This festival fitted with love-filled colors gives the report of brotherhood, opening the bonds of every religion, sect,nation,caste. On this day, people wake up in the morning and go to the homes of their relatives and friends with colors and play Holi with those fiercely. This festival holds special value for children. He brings different types of squirrels and balloons and water gun from the market to him one day in advance. Children enjoy Holi with their friends with balloons and squirrels and water gun. Everyone forgets hatred and hugs each another. Women make sweets, gujhias, etc. a day in advance and sector among themselves into their neighborhood. Many public leave the Holi team and call those Huriyare.Holi also has mythological significance for Hindus. The extermely famous regirding this festival is the story of Prahlada, Holika and Hiranyakashyap. But not only this, many other stories of Holi areas well prevalent. In the Vaishnava tradition, Holi is considered a symbolic formula of Holika-Prahlad's story.

Devotee Prahlada's father Hariyanyakaship considered himself a god. He was opposed form Vishnu while Prahlada was a lover of Vishnu. He prevented Prahlada from doing Vishnu bhakti or when its did not agree, he tried to hunt Prahlada. Prahlad's father ultimately asked her sister Holika for help. Holika had the blessing by not burning into the fire. Holika agreed to help His brother. Holika sat in the pile with Prahlad, but Prahlad was conserved by the favour of Vishnu and Holika was applied by burning. Kamdev was consumed

There is also a story of Holi, Cupid. Parvati wanted to get married to Shiva but Shiva, absorbed in penance, did not notice her. In such a situation, the God of love, Kamdev came forward and shot a flower arrow at Shiva. Shiva became so angry with the austerity that he opened his third eye and consumed Kamadeva in the fire of his anger. After Kamdev was consumed, his wife Rati started crying and pleaded with Shiva to bring Kamdev alive. By the next day Shiva's wrath had subsided, he revived Kamadeva. Holika is lit on the day of Kamdev's incineration and the festival of colors is celebrated in the joy of his being alive.

According to a story in the Mahabharata, Yudhishthra was told by Sri Krishna - once an Asura woman under the rule of Raghu, an ancestor of Sri Ram, was a dhodi.
